A better route from Rodborough towards the pedestrian crossing across Dr Newton's way, which this bridge seeks to address.

Yes. This would help pedestrian access - I walk this route at least three times a week to do my shopping in town. Improving pedestrian access might convince more people to get out of their cars and walk.

My main reservation as a (hopefully) future regular user of this bridge is that the circulation map doesn't appear to show the bridge connected to the higher footpath here, as is shown in the sketch. This connection is important and better for those coming from Rodborough than steps down to the canal towpath.

Yes, it will avoid confusion to visitors to the area. I work in the canal Trust visitor centre and frequently explain in detail how to follow the route.

Make sure any bridge is high enough for boats to pass underneath. In future narrow boats with canopies at the stern may come through.
